ACTIVITIES

Tennis
Head Tennis Professional - Elias Yacoub

Approach the Oakville Club down Water Street and gaze upon the picturesque setting of the five outdoor tennis courts available for play day or night. The tennis courts in the summer are the place to be. Compete, challenge fellow members on the singles ladder or just enjoy a game of doubles on beautiful court 5, while the boats sail by on Sixteen Mile Creek.

Badminton

Badminton at the Oakville Club is synonymous with tradition. Four courts occupy what once served as an airplane hangar during World War I. Now, feathered birds fly through the air controlled by strings in the orchestrated movement of doubles and singles.
Programs for every age and ability have been expertly designed. This year-round sport is rich with organized leagues, round robins, socials and reciprocals.

Squash
Head Squash Professional - Melanie Jans

Four international squash courts provide an arena for opponents to measure their skills in triumph or defeat. From house leagues and round robins to tournaments, there are tiers for beginners to masters.

Pickleball

During the summer of 1965, a few friends intended to play Badminton with their families, but the birdie was missing! They improvised with a Wiffle ball, lowered the badminton net, and fabricated paddles of plywood from a nearby shed. Although some sources claim that the name "Pickleball" was derived from the family dog, Pickles, the name actually came from the term "pickle boat", referring to the last boat to return with its catch.

With its idyllic location to Lake Ontario and riverside setting, The Oakville Club prides itself on the numerous sailing activities. The Sailing membership is busy year-round and in the summer months creates an exciting atmosphere at the Club with regatta’s, cruises and races. Finish your evenings enjoying the sunset on our Dockside Patio.

SAILPAST
Sailpast marks the official opening of Sailing Season and summer at The Oakville Club. Sailpast is the traditional sailing ceremony of the “Review of the Fleet” by the Commodore. Fleets rendezvous outside the Harbour and sail in a specific order past the Commodore’s yacht to salute the Commodore. Sailpast is a traditional event for the Club. It is an opportunity to see the strength and energy of our Club, both afloat and ashore.

CRUISING
While many Members will cruise on their own at various times throughout the summer, there are a number of “group” cruises. These events – organized by the Sailing Committee – involve a coordinated multi-boat visit to another Club. Often such an event will involve a reciprocal visit with boats coming to Oakville while we are at their facility.

VISITORS
An important dimension to sailing activity is the welcome we receive when we visit other yacht clubs. Similarly, we provide excellent hospitality at the Club to the crews of visiting sailors.
